2016 Hyundai Sonata Earns 5-Star Crash Rating

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata has earned the top 5-star overall safety rating from the government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. This distinction has made it one of the best of the best for  vehicle safety.

The Sonata's perfect score in overall rating also includes a five star rating in frontal crash and side crash, plus a four out of five in rollover crashes. The Sonata received credit for also having the recommended forward collision warning option.

Observations from their front barrier test find that both male and female drivers and passengers earned the five-star crash rating. It's the same with side crash rating. Regardless of who is is driving or sitting in the passenger seats for male or female, they earn a five-star crash rating in a side barrier rating and a side pole crash rating

In rollover crashes, the Sonata only received a 10 percent risk of rollover.

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata builds of the popular redesign in 2015. This award joins many other safety awards given to the Sonata. It was one of only three vehicles last year to earn a perfect score in cars.com's car seat test. It also earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick on the model.

This is one of seven 2016 Hyundai Vehicles to already earn the 5-Star NHTSA Overall Safety Rating.
