Review: 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport

The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport models just arrived at Waikem Hyundai in Massillon. They get a facelift up front, plus all the latest safest technology. Add in those great new comfort features, and these great SUVs just gets better and better.

Two great options
You might ask yourself, what's the difference between the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport? The Santa Fe Sport is a smaller SUV with room for five people, and the Santa Fe is a larger, seven passenger SUV with a third row. Both models are among the most popular SUVs on the road today thanks to the innovative technology, great power trains and high MPGS.

So what's new?
The Santa Fe models get a redesigned front fascia that includes new LED lighting accents and a new front grille. The Santa Fes get new alloy wheel designs. In the back, the models have a dual exhaust design and brand new tail lights.
All Santa Fe models now offer Drive Mode selection. Choose between Sport, Normal and Eco settings to accommodate the terrain and your driving style. The Santa Fe models are offered in both Front Wheel Drive and All Wheel Drive, and all Santa Fes get a fuel economy improvement in 2017.
Then there are lots of mechanical changes you won't see, but you'll definitely notice. More than 25 percent of the Santa Fe parts content has been updated, leading to an improved daily commute.
Safety Technology
The 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe lineup gets additional safety technology options to keep you safe on the road ahead. This year's edition offers a multi-view camera system. Instead of your traditional backup camera, you'll get a 360-degree view of everything happening in front, behind and to the sides of your Santa Fe. That makes it much easier to street park or fit in and out of any tight space.
The models offer smart cruise control with stop/start functions, meaning you can set the cruise control, and the vehicle will automatically adjust its speed to keep a safe distance from the other cars on the road.
For the first time this year, the Santa Fe models come with optional Lane Departure Warning, meaning if you sway in and out of lanes without signaling, the vehicle will chime alerts and help you stay awake and alert during a long drive.
Also new this year is Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection. This is a system of sensors located around the car, serving as an extra set of eyes on the road. If it detects a potential front-end collision with a slowed vehicle, or if it sees a pedestrian running in front of your vehicle, it will automatically engage the brake pedal, helping to reduce the possibility of a collision.
Thanks to all these great safety technologies and improved engineering, Hyundai expects the 2017 Santa Fe to earn an IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus and five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Improved Connectivity
Technology does more than keep you safe in the new Santa Fe, as a number of new options will make the next road trip that much more enjoyable.
The new Santa Fe includes optional Android Auto, the easiest and safest way ever to connect your phone and vehicle. With Android Auto, the same layout from your phone displays on the infotainment screen. From there you have access to your Google Maps, songs, podcasts, and even popular apps like Pandora, Spotify, Audible, MLB At Bat, NPR and much more.
Android Auto gives you the power to send text messages through voice commands, and it will also read your incoming messages over the speakers. It also gives you the power of hands-free calling.
The Hyundai Santa Fe lineup also features the next-generation Hyundai Blue Link. You can download the BlueLink app on your phone for remote start, climate control, remote lock and unlock and stolen vehicle recovery. BlueLink also gives you the power to find your car in that crowded parking garage, along with diagnostic updates that keep the vehicle in tip-top shape.
Blue Link is also great for parents with teen drivers, because you can set a maximum speed, set a driving curfew and even create a safe driving radius. If the vehicle travels out of the radius, or if it's out after the curfew, you're automatically alerted, giving you peace of mind with your young driver.
The Santa Fe lineup now offers rear USB ports so everyone's phones stay charged on the next long road trip.
The 2017 Santa Fe lineup is a commuter's dream with great optional features like heated and cooled leather seats, heated leather steering wheel, dual panoramic sunroof, heated side mirrors, and more. It now offers power passenger's seat to go along with a power driver's seat. Plus other great options like seat memory, mirror memory, adjustable pedals and more.
This year's model features two new colors, nightfall blue and storm blue. In total there are nine exterior color choices and five interior color and fabric options.
The Hyundai Santa Fe models come with America's Best Warranty, a 10-year, 100,000 mile limited power train warranty, a 5-year, 60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty, a 7-year anti-perforation warranty and five years of unlimited roadside assistance.
